Job Summary:
As a Distribution Center Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee the efficient and effective operation of the distribution center. You will be responsible for managing inventory, coordinating shipments, optimizing warehouse layout, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Manages a secondary shipping facility during peak season. Assist with the planning, budgeting and hiring needs of the secondary facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists with overall operation of the distribution center, including new hire training and development
- Lead and motivate a team of 50-250 warehouse staff depending on the time of year
- Manages Receiving department, Freezer and Forklift drivers and during peak manages shipping facility
- Assist with budgeting and hiring plan of the distribution center
- Training and motivating team members to maximize productivity and efficiency while monitoring productivity to meet job standards
- Ensures area managers and supervisors are maintaining all production records, ice reports, ice overage and maintaining damage file
- Maintaining product rotation properly and actively checking errors while providing feedback to appropriate supervisor
- Responsible for ensuring all safety and ergonomic guidelines are being followed
- Conducts interviews and hiring of employees, performance appraisals and performs disciplinary action
- Assists with dry ice testing, new product ship test and other projects as assigned
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 4 year college degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years warehouse or distribution center experience
- Familiar with warehouse automation and robotics is preferred
- Forklift and Pallet Jack certified/experience preferred
- Experience with MS Office products including Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel
- Knowledge AS400 (System A) and Quantal preferred
- Bilingual preferred not required
- Ability to plan, organize, direct work and multi-task
- Must be ok working in a non-climate control environment
